WAXING TREATMENT

Waxing can seem to be a very straightforward treatment to book but for those of you who have never had it done before or perhaps only have the treatment performed in the summer, here are a few tips to help you plan your course of treatments.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE WAXING APPOINTMENT

  • The hair should be a quarter of an inch (the size of a grain of rice) to ensure the hair is correctly removed from the root.

  • Take an Ibuprofen or apply a numbing cream before waxing to reduce pain and sensitivity temporarily.

  • Notify The Clinician if you are on any medications or skin products that contain Accutane, Retin A/Retinol or Salicylic Acid.

  • Do not tan/spray tan within 24 hours of waxing service.

  • Avoid alcohol intake.

  • Exfoliate the skin to remove any dead skin cells.

AFTERCARE WITHIN 24 HOURS

  • Be comfy. Wear loose clothing to prevent friction that can irritate the skin.

  • Avoid heat, sweat and friction after a wax—for example, Baths, hot tubs, saunas, and physical activity. The hair follicles are open, and this can cause bacteria to enter.

  • Do not use products on the skin. Examples are deodorant, perfumes and scented body lotion.

  • Avoid touching the area.

What To Do 24+ Hours After Your Waxing Appointment

  • Exfoliate 48 hours after waxing. For upkeeping, exfoliate two to three times a week to buff off the dead skin cells to avoid ingrown hairs that come with the regrowth. Gently scrub the area with a scrub brush, an exfoliating glove, facecloth or body scrub.

  • Moisturize.

  • Do not shave between waxes.
